His output just wasn't as large on Sun because he was signed by a major studio as soon as he started making a national impact. Meanwhile Johnny Cash stayed on and cut 60 great songs.

Other major artists, who did their best work for Sun (like Cash IMO), are Carl Mann, Carl 5/5(4). The birth of Rock ’n’ Roll is explored along with songs by Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy Orbison.

The fact that "Sun Records: An Oral History" is being reprinted is big news - and long overdue. I read the earlier printing of this fascinating and informative book a few years ago, and I've recommended it to Legends of Sun Records book music aficionados and music scholars as well/5(8).
