This is a very good book on Q&A from Westminster Shorter Catechism. Each question is followed by lengthy explanation and scriptural proofs. The only minor drawback is that Bible citations are not from English Standard Version (ESV) but from what it appears to be KJV.

4 people found this helpful/5(53). This is a helpful companion to Starr Meade's Training Hearts, Teaching Minds. I prefer using the original language for the questions and answers of the Catechism rather than Meade's modernized language since the authors of the Shorter Catechism chose each word so carefully and diligently to represent truth/5(81).

Ostensibly, the purpose of this book is to present and explain the beliefs contained in the Westminster Shorter Catechism. However, Williamson choose a much more partisan path, and uses the book to present his own particular variety of Presbyterianism and his own interpretation of the Catechism, not the text of the Catechism itself/5.

Helpful explanations of questions of the Westminster Shorter Catechism, with analogies and simple illustrations. Volume 1 covers questions I skimmed some parts, but read straight through most of it. Notes Q 39 Q tell "what man is to believe concerning God."/5.

G.I. Williamson's study manuals on the Shorter Catechism have served as invaluable tools for instructing young and old in the Reformed system of doctrine.

Now newly typeset in one volume, this illustrated manual offers clear exposition of each of the questions in the Shorter Catechism/5(5).

The purpose of the Shorter Catechism is to educate children and others "of weaker capacity" (according to a preface written by the Church of Scotland) in the Reformed faith. It is based on the Larger Catechism, which was intended for use by ministers as they taught the faith to their congregations in preaching.

The Children's Shorter Catechism is an extremely effective way in teaching young children the basic principles of the Bible, and the Reformed Faith. It is taken from the Westminster Shorter Catechism and is housed in simple language which will aid children to learn fundamental Christian truths that are of utmost importance in the larger scope of God's redemptive plan for.
